Film Textures (SQ02)
Sometimes bizarre but always musically useful, this latest bank from one of the most twisted programmers is a film scorer’s dream (or nightmare) come to life! Great for sci-fi, horror and fantasy films, yet many are classically orchestral and thus useful for mainstream applications.

R&B/Top 40 (SQ03)

1) VFX “Samplers & Synthesizers” (V101)
The “Samplers and Synthesizers” collection is a dual soundbank consisting of 480 sounds (120 X 4 Patch Selects), 40 Preset patch combinations (20 X 2) and hundreds of customized ESP programs for the Ensoniq VFX/VFXSD Dynamic Component Synthesis keyboard system. The Programs offer four Patch Selects each—sometimes variations on the main Program, and sometimes a completely different texture altogether. The Presets in Bank A are set up as “monster” stacks—sounds that you could previously obtain only by hooking several MIDI synths together. The Presets in Bank B are set up as “live performance” patches—each of the three sounds within each Preset is independent and allows for easy access in live performance situations.
Sounds range from Kurzweil emulations to Fairlight simulations and beyond - with everything in between (M1, PPG, SY77, DX7, D-50, Oberheim, Arp, Moog, Emulator, etc...). Also included are standards such as Acoustic Pianos, Harpsichords, Organs, Guitars, Drum kits, “Animated” Percussion and Effect Drums. Other special FX (obtainable only with the VFX) such as “Haunted Houses” round out the collection.
Our specialized programming techniques take full advantage of the VFX’s powerful Voice and ESP editing capabilities and Modulation Routing possibilities.
Typically, pitch bend is set for +/- whole step bend. Modulation Wheel is used for vibrato, pitch EG, filter sweep, chorusing, detuning and other routable effects. The data entry slider is usually assigned to Timbre which allows you to instantly adjust the brightness or darkness of the sound—this is great for quick editing and adds hundreds of variations for each Program instantaneously in realtime. Aftertouch is implemented for various nuances and effects where applicable.
Experimentation is the key, as all of the sounds have their own inherent characteristics which are useful for many different styles of music (rock, jazz, new age, pop, soundtrack, etc...). Feel free to create your own Presets from our Programs to suit your needs and preferences. Enjoy!
2) VFX “Super Stage & Studio” (V102)
This disk of V50 performances contains sounds for current pop/dance/R&B and rap music. Included are a generous sampling of synth-bass sounds, rock guitars, horn stabs and percussive sci-fi FX. Mod wheel controls vibrato, chorus and other effects, and foot control alters volume. Pitch bend is always available and aftertouch is used on some performances. A short demo song using the voices in this collection is provided in the (All) file.
